Anne is expressive, and approaches life very enthusiastically. For example, when Anne saw a road lined with apple trees, she described the beautiful nature there the ‘White Way of Delight’ and when she saw a pond at the Barry homestead, she named it the ‘Lake of Shining Waters’. Her ambitious personality was developed from her terrible time at the orphanage. She used her stories to cope, and dreamed up herself as ‘Princess Cordelia’. When Anne was signing her name in a book as a way to say that she was adopted by the Cuthberts, she asked is she could put Cordelia as one of her middle names.
